Christmas Bells (pt. of [harbor]'s X-MAS X-TRAVAGANZA!)
Monday, December 13, 2010
We Need a Little Christmas (pt. of [harbor]'s X-mas X-travaganza!)
Yay! Ring those silver bells!
We're at 90 facebook members! For Christmas, [harbor]'s asking Santa to make it 100 by the end of the year, and you can help. Introduce your friends and family to [harbor] and tell them to join. It's so simple! Just 10 more and then [harbor]'s at 100! It'd be a Christmas miracle.
And remember the email: harborcomic@gmail.com for any questions and/or comments.
Think email is too twentieth century? Tweet your question/comment to @jimmy_robertson with the hashtag #harborcomic or #kimsguide (for any Kim-related question). 'Tis the season!
Next Week: Our big X-mas X-travaganza starring the whole gang!!!

Tiger, Tiger (Finale to Kim's Guide to Getting the Ladies!)
Ka-Pow!
Remember, just because Jimmy's journey with Kim is done (for now) doesn't mean that Kim is done giving out advice. Have a question that only Kim can answer? About love? Life? Bacon? Send an email to harborcomic@gmail.com with your query. You can also go to the facebook fanpage and submit your question in the Discussions section. Got a quick question? Send a tweet to twitter.com/jimmy_robertson with the hashtag #kimsguide. Three ways to get your question not only answered but made into a comic in the future!
What do you think of Kim's Guide? Jimmy's future love life? The other characters in [harbor]? Comment, email, post on the facebook wall, or tweet your thoughts.
Next Week: The gang prepares for the holidays.

Happy Talk (Pt. 3 of "Kim's Guide to Getting the Ladies!")
Ka-Pow! Just take the advice.
Still want MORE of Kim's Guide? Fear not, for while this episodic turn must come to an end, Kim will still be dishing out her own special brand of relationship advice every now and then.
But, she needs you to help her.
Have a broken heart? Wanna catch that certain someone's eye? Fed up with your partner? Just ask Kim! Send an email to harborcomic@gmail.com with the title Kim's Guide and she'll answer it in an upcoming comic.
Don't like email? Facebook more your thing? Go to [harbor]'s facebook fan page and ask your question in the Discussions tab under Kim's Guide to Getting the Ladies!
Facebook too old - too '2004' - for you? Is Twitter what all the cool kids are doing? Send an @reply or message to @jimmy-robertson with your question and the hashtag #kimsguide.
There you have it! Three ways to get in touch with Kim and have your question answered in an upcoming comic. So what are you waiting for!?
Lastly, if you haven't already, become a fan on facebook. Sketches, cool art, and other jokes not seen on this site. It's what Kim would want.
Next Week: the finale to "Kim's Guide to Getting the Ladies!"

Thank Goodness
EARLY [harbor] POST! BOOM!
I hope you all have a happy (and safe) Thanksgiving this year. While I'm a little sad that I'll miss my first chance to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in person this go-round, I'm more than thankful that I get to spend the holidays with my family. All of my families.
Next week: more Kim. I know. Too good to be true.
Lates.

Walk Like a Man (Pt. 2 of "Kim's Guide to Getting the Ladies!")
Ka-Pow!
Next week, Kim's Guide takes a break so we can all rediscover the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Then after that, more boob jokes.
Lates!

What is a Woman? (pt. 1 of "Kim's Guide to Getting the Ladies!")
Part 1 done! Boo-yah!
What do you think of Kim's advice? Like it? Love it? Gotta have it? Cold Stone jokes aside, leave a comment here or at the facebook page.
After this little arc, I'd love to make this an occasional question/answer segment, like Ask Abby. Do you have a question for Kim? Post your question in the discussion board of the facebook page, or tweet me with the hashtag #kimsguide (I'm @jimmy_robertson), and maybe Kim'll answer it in a strip! Imagine that, a whole strip answering your question from one of the leading lady killers in the country. It makes me teary-eyed, that sounds so wonderful.
More advice next week!

Legally Blonde
Before "The Wedding"...
Boo! Halloween-themed background for the remainder of the month!
[harbor]'s taking a break from "The Proposal" to spend some time with our favorite "mafia" boss and to do an ALL-HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA next week! But we will be back to the story soon enough. Oh so soon enough...
And, I'm sorry. I couldn't help but use that title this week. It was too much for one man to resist!

Illness as a Metaphor (pt. 2 of "The Proposal")
Boom! All I'm saying is one kid could be a president and the other could sing "A Whole New World." Best of both.
Will Jimmy ever capture Natalie's heart? Will Natalie enter the witness protection program? Will this madness ever end? Come back next week to find out.
P.S. 50 points for the first person who can name the musical this week's title is from!

Love Crazy (pt. 1 of "The Wedding")
"The Wedding" begins. Now in digital color! Ooo!
Just for facebook fans! I loved this initial sketch so much that I scanned it and am going to post it on the facebook page. I'm going to continue to post sketches, ideas, and other hidden goodies on the facebook page, exclusive to facebook fans, including an alternate ending to this strip. That, however, will be later in the week, so keep checking the facebook page. And if you haven't already, add [harbor] as one of your likes to get material that ONLY facebook friends can see. It's like I'm actually there showing you!
What do you all think of the new color scheme? Any tips or questions? Wanna trade lunches? Leave a message on the facebook page!
Oh, and did I mention we have a facebook page?
Next week, we find out how our two little lovebirds met. Night.

N.Y.C. (3 bucks, 2 bags, 1 me)
Now in color! Kinda.
I'm so glad to start working on [harbor] again. It feels like a whole new strip! I've got some plans for the coming months, including some continuing story arcs (e.g. a certain wedding coming up...) and something so super top secret that even I don't know what it is!
Okay, that was a lame joke. So I guess nothing's really changed.
Welcome back to [harbor].

[harbor] hiatus
[harbor] is taking a break for a bit so that I can get myself settled in New York City. I need some time to prepare a few things: get a scanner to put the strips on my computer, find a desk for the comp, buy a bed. You know, small stuff.
I promise [harbor] will be back in a couple of weeks, maybe sooner. After that, more strips. More funny. Less excuses about getting comics up.
Thanks! See you soon.

Will there be a comic tomorrow? All signs point to yes.

Sorry...
No comic this week. My apologies. I was way too busy cementing where I'm going to live in New York (we got a place!) and performing in 42nd St. Moon's production of Very Warm for May.
Correction: no comic today. Maybe they'll be one later this week, but I do promise you two new comics plus an explanation of how Candle-Boo and Morning Moo came to be. All by next Monday. Scouts honor.
P.S. Many thanks to Greg MacKellan (artistic director of 42nd St. Moon) for promoting [harbor] to our audiences. It's well appreciated. Come see me in Very Warm for May, and certainly catch the other great shows they put on. Classic musical theatre done right here in the bay area! You can't get much better than that.

The Fantastic Friendship that is Candle-Boo and Morning Moo! #1!
Episode 1: Friendship Rocks!
A little different than our standard fare, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

Apology to a Cow
Next Week: the premiere of [harbor]'s sister comic: 'The Fantastic Friendship that is Candle-Boo and Morning Moo.' Good ol' cartoony fun at it's best!
Note: The friendship I'm referring to is not with Erin. It's not with any of the Harbor Kids. It's someone else from another life entirely. And I'll tell you all about that other life and friendship next week. But first, you must meet the characters.

Dramatis Personae: Lily (a.k.a. Don Lily)
Her name is Lily, not Donald Lily. By "Don Lily" I mean if the Harbor Family was the mafia, she'd be the Don. She plans the events. She brings us together. She makes us sit in the same spot at the same coffee shop every damn year. And we love her for it.
Also, if the Harbor Family was the mafia we'd be pretty terrible. Just awful. I certainly know I'd squeal every time I fired a gun.
This is the last dramatis personae (for now...). You've met the characters. Now on with their adventures!

Pretty Little Picture
I know that there's trouble reading the comic on the actual blog page. It's just way too small! I know, and I'll try to fix it soon enough.
In the meantime, you can just click on the picture itself for a closer (MUCH closer) view of the comic.
Thanks! More dramatis personae this week, and more new comics soon.

Something's Coming
Harbor is about family... but not the kind you'd think. Harbor is not about the nuclear family: 2.5 kids, dog, cat, picket fence, the works. In fact, it's the furthest thing from.
Harbor is about a neurotic boy and his "art". It's about his best friend, a genius (in some things). It's about the coolest kid in school. It's about an emerging actress in Hollywood, a doctor, an aspiring grad student, and the perkiest person ever. Cows and ghosts with candles on their heads. Trees and coffee. It's about childhood sweethearts finally tying the knot.
Oh, and Don Lily. It's about Don Lily, too.
You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family.
Welcome to Harbor.

Overture
I just wanted to let you all know, I do plan on posting. Really soon. I've just got a bit too much on my plate right now, but after that I assure I'll get this comic into full swing. Bi-weekly updates, even!
If you want, send me ideas, stories, or just things you want to see. Like somebody punching somebody else in the face; maybe it'll happen! Or even just little special things that happened to you during the day, so that I can make a comic out of it. It'll be a big help.
Give me until March 15, and then we'll all begin this little family experiment called "Harbor".
